Multi-Color 3D Printed Text with Up to 7 Outline Layers

WordCAD now supports up to 7 concentric outline layers around your text, each with its own color and width. This makes it easy to create eye-catching 3D prints with layered color effects.

How it works

Open the Outlines section in the controls panel. Click Add Outline to add a new layer. Each outline has:

Outlines stack outward from the text fill. The first outline hugs the letterforms directly, and each subsequent outline wraps around the previous one.

Printing tips

When you export as 3MF, each outline becomes a separate named part in your slicer (e.g. outline-0, outline-1). Assign each part to a different filament in Bambu Studio and you're ready to print.

If your slicer doesn't support 3MF, export as STL instead — you'll get a zip with individual STL files for the fill and each outline layer.

Every design parameter — including outline widths and colors — is stored in the URL. Share a link and the recipient sees exactly what you see. Try experimenting and sharing your favorite combinations!
